Counterfeit Christianity: Why Catholicism Is Not Biblical Christianity
Share
“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
—2 Timothy 3:5
Catholicism is often assumed by the world to be just another branch of Christianity—some might even claim it’s the “original” church. But when we compare the Roman Catholic system to the Word of God, the deception becomes painfully clear. Catholicism is not biblical Christianity. It is a cleverly disguised counterfeit that borrows the names of Jesus, Mary, Peter, and Paul, but preaches another gospel, filled with idolatry, paganism, and spiritual bondage.
This is not an attack on individual Catholics—many are sincere, searching souls trapped in a system of lies. This is a call to truth. To come out of her. To "be not partakers of her sins" (Revelation 18:4).
Let’s expose the roots and rituals of Catholicism and reveal why it cannot be considered true Christianity.
1. Catholicism’s Pagan Roots: The Mother Goddess Rebranded
Long before Jesus walked the earth, cultures around the world worshiped a mother goddess—Isis of Egypt, Ishtar of Babylon, Diana of Ephesus. When Rome adopted Christianity, it didn’t abandon its paganism; it merged it.
The Roman Catholic Church didn’t simply “honor” Mary as the mother of Jesus—it exalted her to the level of deity. Mary is portrayed as:
The “Queen of Heaven” (a title also given to the goddess Ishtar in Jeremiah 7:18).
Co-Mediatrix and Co-Redemptrix, as if Christ’s sacrifice was not enough.
The sinless perpetual virgin—which directly contradicts Scripture (Matthew 13:55-56) showing Jesus had siblings.
This is not the Mary of the Bible. This is a recycled goddess in disguise—a demonic deception cloaked in religious reverence.
2. The Worship of Saints and Idols
The Bible is explicit about idolatry:
“You shall not make for yourself an image… you shall not bow down to them or serve them.”
—Exodus 20:4-5
Yet in every Catholic church, we see statues of Mary, Joseph, “saints,” and even Jesus—bowed to, kissed, prayed to.
The Catholic Church teaches that saints intercede for us, yet nowhere in Scripture are we told to pray to the dead. Jesus is our only Mediator:
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
—1 Timothy 2:5
Praying to saints is necromancy disguised as devotion.
3. The Lie of the First Pope: Was Peter Really the Rock?
Catholics claim that Peter was the first pope, and that the Church was built on him.
But Jesus said:
"You are Peter (Petros), and on this rock (petra) I will build My church…”
—Matthew 16:18
Two different Greek words. Jesus was saying He would build His church not on Peter (a small stone), but on the revelation that Jesus is the Christ.
Peter himself said:
“The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”
—1 Peter 2:7
That cornerstone is Christ—not Peter. The idea of a pope is man-made, rooted in control, not truth.
4. The Pope: A False Christ Figure
The Pope is called “Holy Father,” “Vicar of Christ,” and claims to be the visible head of the Church.
Yet:
“Call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.”
—Matthew 23:9
This isn't just a suggestion—it’s a command.
The Pope wears a triple crown, signifying kingship over heaven, earth, and the underworld—a blasphemous counterfeit of Jesus Christ’s authority.
Popes sit on thrones, are carried on shoulders, kissed on rings—and often speak ex cathedra (infallibly), as if their word is divine. This is the spirit of Antichrist—claiming to stand in place of Christ.
5. The Rosary: Repetitious Prayer and Pagan Origins
Catholics are taught to pray the Rosary, repeating the “Hail Mary” over and over again—50 times per session.
Jesus warned against this:
“And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the heathen do…”
—Matthew 6:7
The Rosary originated not in Christianity but in Hindu and Buddhist prayer beads. It is a pagan ritual, repackaged to look holy.
6. The Myth of Purgatory: Another Gospel of Works
The Catholic Church teaches purgatory is a place where souls are purified before entering heaven. This doctrine is used to sell indulgences, Masses for the dead, and manipulate grieving families.
Yet Scripture says:
“It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
—Hebrews 9:27
There is no biblical basis for purgatory. It undermines the finished work of Christ and teaches that man can earn his way to heaven—a direct contradiction of the Gospel.
7. Nuns, Monks, and Celibate Priests: Doctrines of Demons
Catholicism forbids marriage for priests and nuns—yet Paul warned:
“In later times some will abandon the faith… forbidding to marry…”
—1 Timothy 4:1-3
Now I know Paul also says it's better to be single then to marry, but unless one burns with passion that's when they SHOULD marry. Because a lot of these men/women became priests or nuns and took a vow of celibacy, when they shouldn't have, children ended up getting abused and/or molested. And then they become Antichrist because Catholicism ruined "Christianity" for them. That ain't Christian at all and neither is Catholicism. In fact most people who hate Christianity were abused by the Catholic "Church."
The celibacy requirement is not always holy—it has been often times harmful. It has led to rampant abuse (look up nuns and the orphanages), secrecy, and the covering up of child molestation.
Jesus never called for monasteries, convents, or spiritual elitism. The Gospel is for every believer, not a caste of “holy professionals.”
8. Catholicism Teaches a Works-Based Salvation
While the Bible teaches we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), the Catholic Church insists:
You must be baptized into the Catholic Church.
You must keep the sacraments (Eucharist, Confession, Confirmation, etc.).
You must confess to a priest and do penance.
You must attend Mass.
You must die in a “state of grace.”
This is not the Gospel. It’s religion. It’s bondage. It’s a treadmill of guilt, never assurance.
“If righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
—Galatians 2:21
9. The Call to Come Out
If you’re Catholic reading this, know this: God sees your heart. He is calling His people out of deception and into truth.
"Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins…”
—Revelation 18:4
Jesus doesn’t need you to perform rituals or pray to saints. He already paid the price for you. Come to Him directly—He is the only way (John 14:6).
Final Thoughts: The Narrow Road
Catholicism offers a wide, decorated road—a blend of tradition, ritual, and man’s authority. But Jesus said:
“Enter through the narrow gate… But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”
—Matthew 7:13-14
That narrow road is faith in Christ alone, not in Rome, not in rituals, not in the Pope or priests or rosaries.
True Christianity is a relationship—not a religion. Not a system. Not a cathedral.
Just a cross. Just Jesus.
Let those with eyes to see, see.
